by Chris Matthai, Investment U Research Tuesday, December 13, 2011 Individuals, businesses and governments are under attack… cyber attack. Collectively, we’ve never faced as many online threats as we do today. Why is so much hacking happening now? The answer is simple: More valuable information is stored online now than ever before and – at the same time – many organizations’ cyber security measures are still not up to snuff. And, unfortunately, our international competitors are taking full advantage of these shortcomings. An Onslaught of Foreign Intrusions According to a recent U.S. government report from the Office of the National Counterintelligence Executive, government agencies and private companies are still failing to shield their networks from foreign hackers and illicit programmers. But the surprise revelation was that the report pointed the

Over the last few years, Unisys Corp. (UIS) has been restructuring its business to improve profitability. This restructuring strategy includes slashing jobs to reduce costs, selling non-core businesses and revamping its sales strategy, while also focusing investments on a few higher-growth areas such as outsourcing. Unisys is currently concentrating on business opportunities in fewer, more profitable markets in the information technology (IT) marketplace. Recently, a few agencies upgraded their rating on Unisys in the wake of reduced debt as well as an improved operating performance. Estimates have also gone up significantly of late. Consequently, we have upgraded our recommendation to Outperform from Underperform. Accordingly, we set a target price of $29.00, derived by applying a P/E multiple of roughly 12.3x our 2011 EPS estimate of $2.36. UNISYS (UIS): Free Stock

Last year was challenging for information technology (IT) company Unisys Corp. (UIS) amidst the acute recessionary environment. The economic downturn has adversely impacted technology spending. Global IT spending declined significantly in 2009. The credit crunch greatly impacted IT capital purchases, and most companies have trimmed their IT budgets. This in turn impacted its top line. 2010 will also be a tough year for Unisys as it works through an uncertain spending environment. Management is currently engaged in a multi-step strategy of reducing costs and focusing resources on high growth areas of the IT market. Although management is making progress in expanding margins, we remain cautiously optimistic of the pace of recovery in IT spending and the maturing of higher-margin legacy product sales and services.
The health care sector comprises different industries, ranging from managed care organizations, healthcare facilities providers and medical devices manufacturers to biotech and pharmaceutical companies. Consequently, we believe that investors in this sector should be mindful of the different drivers and appropriate metrics associated with the various sub-sectors. In March 2010, U.S. healthcare reform passed through Congress, which aims to expand coverage to 31 million Americans who are currently uninsured. This translates into 31 million more customers for the health insurance industry, and 31 million more people for whom prescriptions might be written. Furthermore, the bill cracks down on insurance company abuses. There are multiple pilot programs in the bill that have the potential to significantly reduce the growth in health care costs. However, most of the provisions of the bill

Our price target is $35. Molina Healthcare’s first quarter 2010 earnings of 41 cents per share handsomely beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 18 cents. The better-than-expected results in the quarter were driven by higher operating revenues coupled with lower medical care costs on a per-member per-month (PMPM) basis on account of a mild flu season.
