Over the last few years, Unisys Corp. (UIS) has been restructuring its business to improve profitability. This restructuring strategy includes slashing jobs to reduce costs, selling non-core businesses and revamping its sales strategy, while also focusing investments on a few higher-growth areas such as outsourcing. Unisys is currently concentrating on business opportunities in fewer, more profitable markets in the information technology (IT) marketplace. Recently, a few agencies upgraded their rating on Unisys in the wake of reduced debt as well as an improved operating performance. Estimates have also gone up significantly of late. Consequently, we have upgraded our recommendation to Outperform from Underperform. Accordingly, we set a target price of $29.00, derived by applying a P/E multiple of roughly 12.3x our 2011 EPS estimate of $2.36. UNISYS (UIS): Free Stock

BMC Software Inc. (BMC) announced that China Pacific Insurance Co. (“CPIC”) recently deployed its Business Service Management (BSM) platform. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The CPIC Group holds the second largest position in property insurance and the third largest position in life insurance in Mainland China. It provides integrated insurance services, including life insurance, property insurance and reinsurance, through its subsidiaries. The Group updated its existing information technology (IT) monitoring system with BMC Software’s ProactiveNet Performance Management solution. The system upgrade has enabled CPIC to quickly foresee problems and gauge business priority to reduce error resolution time and free the IT team of its constant fire-fighting activities through forewarnings.
Uncertainty continues to loom over the PC market. The rise of next generation ultra-portable gadgets (mainly tablets) has taken the market by storm, diverting consumer spending dollars from traditional desktops and notebooks. The success of Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) iPad has convinced the world that a thin rectangle portable touch screen with long battery life is enough to take care of most of our daily computing needs. While there was initial opinion that tablets were market expansive and there could be some truth to this, researches are now forecasting that iPad unit sales will grow at an average annual rate of more than 50% from this year to 2015. The fact that tablets are much cheaper is obviously playing a role as well. During the second quarter of 2011, PC shipments

Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) is one of the leading players in the information technology (IT) services industry. We are apprehensive about the intense competition in the IT and cloud computing space from both small and big players such as Accenture and Hewlett-Packard. Moreover, with government orders expected to dry up to a certain extent and the National Health Services realization getting pushed to future quarters, things look difficult for the company. Moreover, the demand for the company’s products in Europe is not encouraging for the upcoming quarters. While we are positive on the company we are a bit concerned about the competition it faces from larger players and its high outstanding debt. We maintain an Underperform rating on CSC and set a price target of $27.00, representing a P/E of

Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) is one of the leading players in the information technology (IT) services industry. CSC reported mediocre fourth quarter 2011 results. We are apprehensive about the intense competition in the IT and cloud computing space from both small and big players such as Accenture and Hewlett-Packard. Moreover, with government orders expected to dry up to a certain extent and the NHS realization getting pushed to future quarters, things look difficult for Computer Sciences. Moreover, demand for the company’s products in Europe is not encouraging for the upcoming quarters. We have an Underperform rating on the company. We set a price target of $40.00, representing a P/E of 7.8x our 2012 EPS estimate. COMP SCIENCE (CSC): Free Stock Analysis Report Zacks Investment Research

Software giant Oracle Corp. (ORCL) has agreed to pay $46.0 million to settle a kickback suit against Sun Microsystems. Oracle declined to comment. The suit was filed back in 2004 in the federal court of Arkansas. The lawsuit alleged that Sun improperly paid kickbacks to systems integrator companies, like Accenture PLC (ACN), in return for recommendations that federal agencies buy Sun’s products. In 2007, the U.S. government became a party to the suit. In this context it is worth noting that in April 2009, Oracle announced the acquisition of Sun Microsystems for $7.4 billion ($9.50 a share) or $5.6 billion net of Sun’s cash and debt. Oracle also settled claims that Sun provided incomplete and incorrect information to the government officers during contract negotiations in the late 1990s. U.S. Postal

(IT) lowered its worldwide personal computer (PC) growth expectations to 15.3% year over year in the second half of 2010, down 2 percentage points from its previous outlook. Lower consumer demand for PCs in established or mature markets and caution at PC suppliers has led to a dramatic change in the PC supply chain.
Virginia-based software major Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) signed a 5-year information technology (IT) services deal with Swiss bank UBS AG (UBS). As per the terms of the deal, Computer Sciences will provide extensive services (networking, security and telecommunications) in support of UBS’ voice and data needs. The total deal value, considering the full service tenure of 5 years, is $580 million. Although the deal value is not exciting in itself, considering the company’s quarterly turnover, CSC’s business has grown in the recent past through a steady flow of these small contracts. In addition, the win could attract other players such as UBS, strengthening the company’s position in the financial services vertical. Computer Sciences has already won a large number of contracts from both Government organizations and private companies. These have

The world’s largest personal computer and server maker, Hewlett-Packard Company (HPQ) recently entered into a three-year contract with Avaya Inc. As per this agreement, HP’s product line will incorporate some Avaya business communication products. The agreement comes as no surprise, because HP has been testing the waters outside its core hardware market for some time now. With the acquisition of 3Com, the company was able to add networking products. However, this would still not position it strongly enough versus the Unified Communications System (“UCS”), launched by Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) last year. With the Avaya deal, HP intends to offer customers an attractive bundle consisting of hardware and software from Avaya (which HP is essentially selling for Avaya) and its own proprietary UCS management services. Interestingly, Microsoft Corp (MSFT) is

Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) major, CSC Corp. (CSC) has been awarded two more task orders by the U.S. Navy worth a combined value of $56.0 million. The two task orders, with individual values of $24.0 million and $32.0 million, respectively, were awarded under the SeaPort Enhanced indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (“IDIQ”) contract signed in April 2004. They have fixed tenures of five years each. Both task orders are for support to Navy submarines, surface ships and unmanned vehicles, but while the first one is more focused on development and engineering for model-making (including software simulation, control systems and data analysis), the second covers the actual making of the models and testing them before manufacture. A few days back the company was awarded a $135.0 million work order for providing
