hort and sweet tonight, there’s some info that can’t wait for a nice and pretty post: While my posts are more comprehensive and detailed, they will always lag my actionable advice. Rick’s Cabaret: Time To Buy Rick’s Cabaret International (NASDAQ: RICK): Rick’s stock has been on an absolute tear in the last 1-2 months, more than tripling in price from a low of $2.50, to $7.50 before today’s pull back. I have been watching the trends at Rick’s as well as the chart and volume patterns, and everything looks bullish aside from today’s down move along with the rest of the market. If you’ve been waiting to buy Rick’s on a pullback, now’s the time to do it. Look to enter a position right here, and especially on any weakness

Diversity, Diversity, Diversity… That’s what we all want right? WRONG! I know it sounds counterintuitive, but actually owning a large amount of stocks that vary in industry, sector and size can actually hinder your overall performance and leave your returns mimicking those of the overall stock market! Sure some years that’s a good thing, and others it’s not, but the point is that if you are looking to CRUSH the market and accelerate your wealth creation, you need to stop worrying about diversification, and start looking into gaining an advantage over Wall Street and the overall market forces. A Quick Note About Diversification The sad truth is that most folks that invest in individual stocks underperform the market, and lag the indexes by about 2 percentage points a year, according

GeoEye (NASDAQ: GEOY) is starting to fulfill some of the promise that has been baked into my investment thesis cake. Today the company announced that they have finally begun selling imagery from their latest and greatest satellite, GeoEye-1, and more importantly for the company and us as investors, have submitted the imagery to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) for approval from their largest customer. This is huge news, and came much sooner than I anticipated. New to the GeoEye story? A fresh start to the new year gives us all a chance to catch our breath and reexamine the allocation of our portfolios. Particularly of interest to me and readers of this blog, are what stocks we should be purchasing for the riskiest portion of our portfolio. Namely, that devoted to small and micro-cap stocks that I specialize in. In this report, I will be outlining 5 great stocks for the new year from highest to lowest allocation, and explaining my reasons for liking that company, as well as the

It’s time to start a large position in GeoEye Inc. (NASDAQ: GEOY), or add to your position if it is less than 3/4 immediately. The provider of space based and aerial imagery is trading at a huge discount right now to its true value, and it won’t be long before the market realizes this (as has already started happening once GeoEye bounced off of its lows last week). In addition, with upcoming catalysts, and insider buying, now is not the time to delay. I would even advocate buying long term call options for those that are familiar with that strategy as within 3-6 months, GeoEye’s shares will be much higher than they are now. In this post I’ll detail the reasons why. This is a must read as we enter

Things were as expected today, which is to say rather lackluster, as GeoEye, Inc. (NASDAQ: GEOY), a provider of space-based and aerial imagery and geospatial information, reported its fiscal 3rd quarter 2008 earnings on Tuesday, and updated the status of GeoEye-1. While I wrote previously that I did not expect the Q3 earnings to be anything special (they weren’t), GeoEye did update the status of GeoEye-1 on the call, and why it has taken longer than expected for the full checkout and imagery certification so that GeoEye can begin selling imagery to its customers. What follows is a summary of GeoEye’s earnings announcement and conference call, and what you need to know if you own, or are thinking of owning the stock. New to the GeoEye story?
Now that things have settled down for GeoEye (NASDAQ: GEOY) we have one more earnings release to get through before the company can start realizing the full potential of their GeoEye-1 satellite launch. When GeoEye announces its 3rd quarter 2008 earnings on Tuesday morning, I won’t so much be focused on this earnings announcement, but more so on a status update on GeoEye-1 and when GeoEye expects to begin delivering usable and approved imagery to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and its other customers. In this post I’ll go over the important aspects that we need to be aware of before GeoEye announces earnings and then break them down into the following parameters: What went right in the quarter: What were some of the positive developments that occurred within the

With rare exception, stocks of all shapes and sizes are getting pummeled and are presenting us with great buying opportunities for those with a long term investment horizon. I recently wrote that now was a fantastic time to buy shares of companies you have been watching and where the fundamentals present an excellent risk/reward scenario. My watch list is no different, and this month I have a broad range of stocks that I am looking at for possible inclusion into the PeakStocks.com portfolio.
Well, it looks like our current economic climate was good for something. The AP has reported that the U.S. government, feeling the pressure of the current economic crisis and as a result of the their need to bail out and possibly fund over $700 billion in debt, has canceled their proposed Broad Area Space-Based Imagery Collection satellite system, or BASIC, which would have launched two commercial grade satellites similar to the ones already in use by GeoEye (NASDAQ: GEOY), and it’s only U.S. based rival DigitalGlobe (NYSE:DGI). I hate to say that I am happy for the way things are going right now, but if it had to happen, it looks like PeakStocks.com recommendation GeoEye is going to be a beneficiary of the downturn, and the government’s latest announcement, which

In a move that pertains directly to PeakStocks.com portfolio recommendation GeoEye, Inc. (NASDAQ: GEOY), and their only U.S. rival DigitalGlobe (NYSE: DGI), the Pentagon and the head of U.S. intelligence signed an agreement on August 15th to buy and jointly manage two imagery satellites, a move Pentagon acquisition chief John Young last month warned was inconsistent with a presidential directive to maximize commercial imagery. The two commercial satellites would cost about $1.7 billion and would be launched around 2012. According to a Reuters news report, the satellites, launch vehicles and associated ground-based command and control equipment would be purchased by the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) using military intelligence funds. GeoEye’s ground station in Norway relayed the downlink signal it received from GeoEye-1 confirming that the satellite successfully separated from the second stage of the launch vehicle and began automatically initializing its onboard systems. The launch of GeoEye-1 marks the 83rd consecutive successful launch of the Delta II rocket. I must admit that watching the launch was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen because of the vested interest that I had in the launch, and actually wanting it to succeed.
GeoEye, Inc. (NASDAQ: GEOY) a provider of space-based and aerial imagery, and geospatial information, reported its fiscal 2nd quarter 2008 earnings on Tuesday after the market closed, and updated the launch status of GeoEye-1, which has been delayed once again, this time for about another 2 weeks. While I wrote previously that I did not expect the Q2 earnings to be anything special (they weren’t), GeoEye surprised me with a further delay in the launch of GeoEye-1, albeit only slightly, and also had some accounting problems that I will detail in full. What follows is a summary of GeoEye’s earnings announcement and conference call, a discussion about the delayed launch of GeoEye-1, along with my explanation of the numbers and outlook, and what you need to know to fully understand

Like one of its satellites racing overhead for some amazing and spectacular shots of the Earth, GeoEye (NASDAQ: GEOY) is getting ready to ramp up its own news stream with a flurry of activity over the next 10 days or so. Not only is the company going to announce its 2nd quarter 2008 earnings on Wednesday morning, but more importantly, on August 22nd, GeoEye will be launching the most advanced commercial imaging satellite currently available. The launch of GeoEye-1, which took four years in the making, represents a seminal moment for the PeakStocks.com portfolio recommendation. The company will either push through to new heights, literally, or fail miserably if the launch proves unsuccessful for any reason whatsoever. In this post I’ll go over the important aspects that we need to

Today I wanted to give you a heads up on some of the stocks that I was watching for possible inclusion into the PeakStocks.com portfolio, specifically ones that are high on my list, and most likely to be added as formal recommendations in the weeks to come as they reach desirable price points, and present wonderful opportunities for long term investors. Note that these aren’t yet formal recommendations, I have more due diligence that I have to perform on them, but they are compelling enough with the research that I have done to be at the absolute top of my list.
