Sotheby’s (BID) just hit a new 52-week high on the company’s better than expected Q from early March that were driven by a rebound in the global economy. Company Description Sotheby’s, together with its subsidiaries, operates as an auctioneer of fine and decorative art, jewelry and collectibles in the United States, China, the U.K. and France. The company was founded in 1744 and has a market cap of $1.95 billion. But with a big equity rebound in hand and optimism abound, the company’s results have once again perked up, on display with better than expected Q4 results from March 1. But by 2030, analysts expect it to climb as high as 93%… with China alone accounting for 52% of the expected increase. This represents a tremendous amount of wealth. A Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) executive compared it to adding a city the size of New York to the world… every three months. Needless to say, that opens up amazing opportunities. But in order to succeed, companies who want to profit

by Louis Basenese, Small Cap and Special Situations Expert Thursday, October 8, 2009: Issue #1111 I confess… I got it wrong with gold. Unlike some stockpickers and newsletter analysts, who proudly trumpet all their winners, while shuffling the losers under the rug, I have no problem admitting when my calls go against me. And to the delight of all the naysayers, this happened just a couple of days ago when gold prices shot to a record high. That triggered my sell-stop and, rather than let my pride come before a fall and hang on, it’s time to move on.
