During the month, passenger traffic slipped 2.4% year over year, with domestic passenger traffic decreasing 3.0%. However, international passenger traffic remained flat year over year. During January, total passenger traffic declined 10.5%, with domestic traffic decreasing 12.1% and international traffic decreasing 4.2%. During February, total passenger traffic fell 12.5% year over year. Domestic and international passenger traffic decreased 13.4% and 8.7% respectively. The decrease is the after-effect of the global recession that took place in 2008, when oil prices reached their peak of $150 per barrel. H1N1 virus, which broke out in 2009, was another reason for the decline in passenger traffic for Mexican airlines such as OMAB. However,

(OMAB) reported a 12.5% decrease in passenger traffic at its 13 airports in February 2010, compared to February 2009. Domestic and international traffic declined 13.4% and 8.7%, respectively. Domestic traffic grew at three airports: Chihuahua, Culiacan and San Luis Potosi. Traffic at the Chihuahua and Culiacan airports benefited from increases on the routes to Guadalajara. Traffic in San Luis Potosi increased because of growth on the Monterrey route. However, a huge reduction at the Mexico City route pushed domestic traffic into the negative. The Monterrey, Acapulco, and Tampico airports had the largest traffic reductions of 13.4%, 27.9% and 31.2%, respectively. The suspension of Aviacsa (suspended since July 6, 2009) also affected all three airports. In addition, Acapulco and Tampico

With the occurrence of swine flu in the Mexico City Airport Terminal 2 Hotel during the quarter, the company took a decisive step in the development of additional sources of non-aeronautical revenues. Total revenues were higher than the three previous quarters, in part as a result of initiatives to preserve aeronautical revenues. In addition, Grupo Aeroportuario continued to implement cost control measures. These actions contributed to offsetting most of the impact of lower traffic volumes on revenues and to an increase in adjusted EBITDA of 2.6% as compared to the third quarter of 2008, with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 54.0%.
Early last week, Mexican airport operator, Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V. (OMAB), reported terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports during August 2009. Total passenger traffic decreased 12.9% year over year in the month. Domestic traffic decreased 11.0%, and international traffic decreased 24.1%. However, total passenger traffic volumes decreased at a slower rate than during any prior month of the year. This effect is principally the result of the improvement in domestic traffic. The performance of airlines such as VivaAerobus, Grupo Aeromexico, Aeromar, and Grupo Mexicana benefited domestic traffic. Three domestic routes were opened: Mexicana Link opened the Acapulco-Guadalajara and Guadalajara-Mazatlan-San Jose del Cabo routes on August 1, and Aeromexico Connect opened the Zacatecas-Mexico City route on August 11. The Culiacan, Durango, and Mazatlan airports reported traffic
