(BKE) Buckle Inc. – Momentum – Zacks Rank Buy

Buckle Inc. (BKE) recently reported strong first-quarter results that beat expectations.

First-Quarter Results

Revenue was up 25% from last year to $200 million. Income came in at $26.9 million, producing earnings of 58 cents per share against the expected 49 cents. It was the fourth time in the last four quarters that the company has surprised and beat, having done so by an average of 3 cents, or 6%.

The company noted that its same-store sales, a key retail metric, were up 17.7% from last year, an impressive feat in a weak consumer environment.

Estimates Up

Estimates were up over the last 30 days heading into the earnings report, with the current-year estimate up 3 cents to $2.56.
