(HURN) Huron Consulting – Sales were up 26% from last year

Huron Consulting, Inc. (HURN) has been on a nice rally since reporting storing third-quarter results in late October. Analysts are bullish on the company, with the next-year estimate projecting 45% earnings growth.

Company Description

Huron Consulting Group, Inc. and its subsidiaries specializes in providing consulting services to the financial and legal industries in the United States. The company was founded in 2002 and has a market cap of $1.21 billion.

Third-Quarter Results

Huron’s share price has been rallying since the company reported solid third-quarter results in late October. Sales were up 26% from last year to $168.7 million. Profit was down from last year due to one-time expenses associated with the acquisition of the management consulting firm Stockamp and associates, coming in at $8.8 million, producing earnings of 44 cents per share.

Expenses Tick Higher

Huron said that its most recent results were impaired by a $2.3 million restructuring charge and its July acquisition of Stockamp for $219 in cash and stock. Huron also said that its operating expenses for the quarter increased 44% to $43 million.

Guidance and Estimates

Huron provided near-term guidance that was in line with analyst estimates, saying it expects fourth-quarter earnings between 58 and 65 cents on revenue between $170 and $178 million.

The analyst community is bullish on Huron, with the next0year estimate pegged at $3.57 per share, a 65% earnings growth projection.

Valuations

Based on the current-year estimate, this stock has a forward P/E multiple of 16.5X, a premium to the overall market.
