JDA Software Group, Inc. (JDAS) is coming off of a very solid quarterly report and just released its newest software suite.

Company Description

JDA Software Group, Inc. is a leading provider of software solutions designed specifically to address the supply chain management, business process, analytic application and e-commerce requirements of the retail industry. The company classifies its software products into three primary categories: Enterprise Systems, In-store Systems, and Analytic Applications.

A Very Strong Quarter

On Oct 20 JDA announced third-quarter results which included total revenue of $98.4 million, up from $93.6 million one year ago. Software revenues lead the way with a 48% year-over-year increase, $23 million up from $15.5 million.

Earnings per share were 40 cents, or 25% higher than Wall Street was expecting.

Full-year estimates for 2008 currently average $1.38 per share, or 15% higher than 2007. Next year’s consensus is $1.52, an 11% year-over-year growth.

Cost Cutting Solutions

JDA released a new software package to serve the transportation and logistics industry on Sep 29. The timing is perfect as economic woes and rocketing fuel prices are forcing transportation companies to find cost cutting solutions.

According the press release the new program will “help shippers and logistics providers more effectively manage the complexities of a global, multi-modal network – from strategic transportation sourcing, planning and optimization, through shipment visibility and performance analysis.”
